Winnipeg Motor Express Story

Winnipeg Motor Express was founded in 1989 by entrepreneur R.E. (Richard) Sobey, as a natural extension of the storage & distribution, messenger, and cartage businesses he had developed over the previous 10 years. The business was started primarily as an East/West domestic service moving full loads of consolidated shipments for distribution in Western Canada. WME Truck-BridgeAs opportunities for transportation into and out of the United States arose, Winnipeg Motor Express adjusted its focus to a North – South orientation, while establishing service points in other key Canadian centers. Areas of service again expanded dramatically with the development of WME Logistics, and the addition of a Refrigerated Service fleet in 1999. Under the direction of Brian Page and continuing to focus on providing a premium service at a reasonable rate, Winnipeg Motor Express continues to establish itself as the carrier of choice providing dependable transportation and distribution solutions throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
